Formula 9.24

Pycnometer volume correction

Input(s)

$V_{k}$: Calibration Volume of Specific Gravity bottle (Pycnometer) $\left(\mathrm{mL}\right.$ or $\left.\mathrm{cm}^{3}\right)$

$T_{t}$: Test Temperature $\left({ }^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\right)$

$T_{k}$: Calibration Temperature $\left({ }^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\right)$

$\Omega$: Material Constant (for Ordinary Glass $=0.276 \cdot 10^{-4} /{ }^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ )

$\Omega$: Material Constant (for Pyrex Glass $=0.156 \cdot 10^{-4} /{ }^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ )

Output(s)

$V_{g}$: Real Volume of Specific Gravity bottle (Pycnometer) $\left(\mathrm{mL}\right.$ or $\left.\mathrm{cm}^{3}\right)$

Formula(s)

$$ \mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{g}}=\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{k}}\left[1+\Omega\left(\mathrm{T}_{\mathrm{g}}-\mathrm{T}_{\mathrm{k}}\right)\right] $$
